We arrived at 5.45am for an early international flight. The lounge didn't even open until 6am so a group of us were standing around in the stairwell. As we had been too early to breakfast at our hotel we were planning to have breakfast in the lounge. It was the worst food I have ever seen in a business class lounge - processed cheese and slimy ham, no fresh fruit, only two sugary cereals, terrible bread (stale, dry, poor quality), packaged orange juice. Spain (as well as Catalunya) bases its reputation on its freshly squeezed orange juice, hams and cheeses, breads and fruit. I'm sure this breakfast buffet was contravening some kind of Spanish law! We had just eaten our way around Spain for 4 weeks and this was a miserable way to finish.
