Efficient without fuss Finnair was a lovely surprise both for their angled seating pods and also for the refreshing cuisine and the fun service from the cabin attendants. Their seating didn’t give me enough lumbar support for a person with longterm spinal trouble-though this was soon remedied when an attendant noticed my discomfort. A small pillow was supplied and all was good-simply by good inflight passenger observation!Four flights with Finnair was a total delight.

Finnair is very European in their service and particularly the food inflight. Not necessarily bad but basic compared to airlines such as Qantas. Their lounges are basic except when sharing a Cathay Pacific lounge which is usually first class. Finnair ground staff in London not the friendliest at check in.Tips for other travellers
Lounge in Helsinki is being renovated . Go to the other lounge for a shower.

The service overall was exceptional though the Embraer 190 on the flight Helsinki to Dublin was older and crowded in Business Class. We were in row 1 which had great leg room. Rows two on seats were the same as Economy in terms of leg space though the Business service level was the same for all Business passengers - very good.

Qantas business class on A330 outbound flight was very comfortable with good food and a comfortable bed. Finnair A350 has a very narrow foot end and they do not use any form of comforter or mattress on the seat so there are gaps in the bed. Service on board was good and meals ok. Qantas on return night flight took 2 hours in the flight before a meal was served which reduced sleeping time. For the rest QA a good service. Finnair not bad but not as comfortable for sleeping.
